Sail & Powerboat Training have offered to hold the following RYA courses for Members at a discounted rate.
STARS Group courses
8th March 2025 – RYA First Aid £40 per person 7 places available normally £120 per person
9th March 2025 – RYA VHF SRC Course £75 per person (only RYA fee payable) 6 places available Normally £165.00
25th March 2025 – RYA First Aid £40 per person 8 places available, normally £120 per person
26th March 2025 – RYA VHF SRC Course £75 per person (only RYA fee payable) 8 places available also can be used as a refresher. Normally £165.00

Come and join other Members for a social lunch. meet at 12.30 and order from the menu or specials board. Then enjoy your lunch in company in the dining room. Why not bring a friend as a guest to sample the excellent food. Booking is essential so we know how large to make the table.

TALK – Chris Caldwell on the Southwold Lighthouse
Friday 21st February, 18:00 Dining, Talk 19:30
Chris Cardwell is a tour guide at Adnams.
He will cover –
· the origins and history of Trinity House
· the Southwold lighthouses and
· the immediate seascape and landscape
He will explain why the lighthouse was built in this particular location and why it remains operational.
Chris is author of the guidebook Southwold Lighthouse – History and Context.

For over 20 years, Lowestoft-born Zeb Soanes was the reassuring voice of the BBC Radio 4 News and Shipping Forecast (which celebrates its centenary this year). He now presents his own week nightly show, Relaxing Evenings with Zeb Soanes on Classic FM. He presents concerts with the UK’s leading orchestras and is the author of the best-selling Gaspard the Fox series of children’s books. Zeb will join us to talk about his varied career in broadcasting and his exciting project to install a statue of another local boy, the composer Benjamin Britten (created by the Royal sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley), which will be unveiled on Lowestoft seafront this summer. Britten’s father was a Member of the RN&SYC.
